Sethu Lakshmi Bayi Wedding Portrait

Sethu Lakshmi Bayi and Sethu Parvati Bayi, Ravi Varma's granddaughters were adopted into the Travancore royal family. This is the wedding portrait of a young Sethu Lakshmi Bay, aged 10, with her consort Sri Rama Varma. Daughter of Mahaprabha, Ravi Varma's eldest daughter, Sethu Lakshmi Bayi was the Maharani of Travancore from 1924 to 1931. Her wedding pavada, a long brocade skirt in deep pink was made from a brocade fabric gifted to Ravi Varma by the Maharaja of Mysore.
