Katō Kōzō, born in 1935 in Mizunami and currently has a workshop at his home in Tajimi city and another in Kaji city, was designated a Living National Treasure in 2010 for his work on the Setoguro technique. He followed the Arakawa Toyozō to create a hole type kiln and established his own way of creating Setoguro and Kizeto wares, making efforts to pass the techniques on to future generations.
