Setting Up the Mela

Holi is a popular, traditional Hindu festival. In Odisha, it is celebrated as Dola Purnima, a festival devoted to Lord Jagannath. Idols of Lord Govinda and Goddess Sridevi are placed on the dola bedi and the palanquin is taken on a procession. The Panchu Dola Mela is also set up annually, with vibrant colours, fireworks and food.
