Rooster, Hen and Chickens

Even the feathers of the rooster, who is balancing on one foot, are delicately depicted, with speckles painted on the wings. For the foot, yellow coloring was applied atop a spreading of white pigment, expressing the texture of the skin. At the rooster's foot is a squatting hen, with three lovely chicks huddling nearby. This composition evokes a feeling of warm familial affection, along with a somehow humorous expression of the birds.
