Shaloo is a version of the Paithani sari that tends to be more popular because of its association with Benarasi Sari. It is believed that the Peshwas of Pune brought several Benarasi Saris. The prominent difference between a Paithani and a Shaloo is the texture. Shaloos are made in extremely fine silk and has heavy gold worked borders with gold motifs on the body of the sari. This finely woven shaloo has a solid gold border and pallav. Circular motifs form repeat patterns throughout the body of the sari.
