Shaman figure

Shaman figure of wood and skin, from Ammassalik, East Greenland, 1933. The shaman figure is sitting with outstretched legs, bowed body and hands tied behind his back mid in a seance. The figure was made just one generation after the establishment of a mission station in Ammassalik, where it was claimed that the shamans still held secret seances.
