Norwich Shawl of pivoting vegetal design, made by Towler and Campin. Made for the Great Exhibition of 1851, this shawl demonstrates the superb technical vituosity of the Norwich shawl trade at it's best - the manufacturers have departed from the constraints of the drawloom; the use of the jaquard loom enabled ambitious designs such as these seen here.
