This print is part of Yoshitoshi's famous series "100 Aspects of the Moon" which depicts scenes from traditional Chinese and Japanese history and lore. The blind warrior, Taira no Tomoume, uses the second sight to see his enemies in battle. His talisman reads, "From darkness I have wandered lost on to a darker path - the moon of the heart is becoming clouded", aluding to the death battle he is fighting.
