Ship breaking yards - Gadani, Balochistan, Pakistan

Located 50 kilometres northeast of Karachi, the Gadani ship dismantling yards can accommodate a hundred boats and employ several thousand people. The workers are exposed to toxic substances such as lead, PCBs, fuel residues and rust. Worldwide, more than a thousand large ships are demolished each year.
