Ship’s Bell

Used to signal the presence of the frigate in foggy weather, as a warning signal for other ships nearby and to help the return of the ship’s boats when they were in the water. It was also used to signal the change of the “watch” or service shifts, sounding four strokes. It was repeatedly sounded in case of emergency
