The scroll reads: "There is a lot of debate among Geographers as to where to place this cost of China and the island of Giapan, which in this painting are located according to the opinion of the more modern scholars…China is inhabited by people full of intelligence and equipped with all arts, mechanical and liberal sciences and especially good in Mathematics, and they started using printing and artillery a long time before us.   • Historical information: The panels in the Maps'Room are 53. 30 out of these were realized by the dominican friar from Perugia Egnazio Danti, the court cosmographer from 1553 to 1575; the remaining 23 were realized by the olivetan monk Stefano Bonsignori from 1576 to 1586. The panels show all the world as known at the time.
