From 1956, the Post used the Siemens-Hell-Fax facsimile machine to transmit images and documents. A DIN A5 page could be sent in 3.5 minutes. The principal innovation was that no special paper was required to receive a transmission and for the first time, the electro-magnetic writing process of the device enabled recording on ordinary writing paper. Due to its limited production capacity, Hell KG cooperated with Siemens for production.
