Silk Playbill for Newcastle Theatre Royal

Playbill, silk, Theatre Royal, Newcastle, printed by M. Benson, advertising performances on Weds. 30 January 1856. Bill reads "The entertainments will be under the distinguished patronage of Count de Maricourt, Consul of France at Newcastle, upon which occasion special trains will leave for Sunderland, Tynemouth, Shields and intermediate Stations on both Lines (if required) at the termination of the Performances." Illustrated with an open cab tender 2-2-2 [?] locomotive hauling a passenger luggage van, two 4-wheel carriages and an open wagon covered with a tarpaulin. The performances were 'Flowers of the Forest' by Buckstone, band performing Partant Pour La Syrie and God Save The Queen, and "new and magnificent Comic Christmas Pantomime entitled Harlequin Baron Munchausen or, The Fairy Queen and the Wizard of the Green Isle." Dark blue lettering on cream silk with orange fringe.
