Susi Brister uses a language of anonymous portraiture to explore isolation and exhibitionism alongside quieter themes of idealized nature and the shortcomings of manufactured simulacrum. Instead of setting up these relationships as dualistic or conflicting, Brister manages to blur the lines between one and it'a apparent opposite, thus creating a convincing image of human desire and impulse; convoluted, uncategorized, messy.
