Oscar Hagerman drew inspiration from a vernacular wooden chair to design, which he produced with a carpenters’ cooperative in Ciudad Nezahualcóyotl. Silla Arrullo has been used as a model by carpenters all over Mexico, with variations of it being sold in markets and roadsides. The history of this chair blurs distinctions between folk and professional design.
