Silver key-chains (Xa Tich) are a traditional ornament worn by Thai women, as well as by women from many other ethnic groups in the northern mountainous regions of Vietnam. It is crafted by the Vietnamese to meet the specific needs and aesthetic preferences of each community. Typically, silver key-chains are worn in clusters at the waist, outside the waistband of the skirt, both for decorative purposes and as a symbol of cultural identity.

Each strand is adorned with small, meaningful objects such as containers for lime, boxes for tobacco, animal claws, dragon-fish motifs, or lime keys. These ornaments not only serve as jewelry but also carry practical value in everyday life.

Women typically wear silver chains during festivals, New Year celebrations, or significant events, adding a graceful and elegant touch to their traditional attire.
