The bumba-meu-boi is the most original popular performance of the Northeast region. Although it has European influences, its structure, subjects, and types are typically Brazilian, and the music that permeates the entire performance has national rhythm and characteristics. Usually represented during the Christmas celebrations in Pernambuco and the June parties in Maranhão, Pará, and Amazonas, the Bumba has spread throughout Brazil, with different names in each region.
