This highly unusual tall, vertical cupboard (“vertico”) conceals a number of drawers behind the front doors and is perhaps the most remarkable piece of the set. This piece, like the entire interior, is veneered with expensive mahogany wood and decorated with delicate mother-of-pearl inlays with geometric patterns suggestive of keyboard or fish-scale motifs. The ornamental impact is underscored by the gradated lateral side panels that are evocative of Classical Greek monumentality.
The decoration of the walls corresponded with the overall visual treatment of the interior; according to a period photograph, the walls were covered with chequered wallpaper. The floor carpet was also adorned with a geometric design.
