Silvia

Jo says: "Portrait of Silvia with her cat Nala before a night shift. Silvia is a young doctor working in London who is also training to be a GP. She was the first person to get in touch about a portrait when my green canvas went up on Instagram.

As a digital illustrator my work has a strong graphic style and I wanted to create a piece that had a striking poster aesthetic by using background icons associated with healthcare and an NHS blue. We had gone into lockdown as I worked on the portrait and the country was in a state of shock. We watched endless news reports of healthcare professionals battling to help those affected as well as protecting themselves from the virus. The words Super Human kept repeating as I worked and it felt so appropriate to use these in Silvia's portrait.

This piece has since inspired another 12 more portraits of key workers in various sectors who are also SUPER+HUMAN."
