Franz von Stuck (Tettenweis, Bavaria, 1863 – Tetschen near Munich, 1928), German painter, graphic artist and sculptor, was one of the founders and most important representatives of Munich’s Jugendstil. He made his name with works with allegorical and mythological scenes, which set the Symbolist line in the painting of the German version of Art Nouveau. The painting Sin is known in several versions, and is an emblematic work of the Munich Jugendstil.
