The curtain is embroidered with the basmalah and Surat al-Ahzab, XXXIII, verses 45–6 (top, on red ground); Surat al-Fath, XLVIII, verses 1–3 (tcentre, on silver ground), and Ayat al-Kursi ('Verse of the Throne', Surat al-Baqarah, II, verse 255). The two larger roundels enclose the names of Allah and Muhammad, while the smaller ones have the names of Abu Bakr, 'Umar, 'Uthman, 'Ali, Hasan and Husayn.
