Tottori, Japan

Rakan (or Arhat) are said to be leading disciples of Buddha that stay in this world as defenders and missioners of Buddhism for a long time even after attaining nirvana. The Rakan have halos above their heads, while some of them tame tigers, and others summon dragons. The sixteen Rakan of various types, as well as the waterfall, palm trees and other trees in the background, are depicted with great subtlety.
