The basis for the creation of a dramatic poem by Lesya Ukrainka was the story of the heroine of ancient mythology Cassandra. According to the plot, the war lasted almost 10 years, Troy was under siege. Only Princess Cassandra, thanks to her gift of providence, received from the god Apollo, would be able to stop the bloodshed. However, she despised his affection. And Apollo took vengeance fiercely: he did so that no one believed her prophecies, and that she was considered guilty of all troubles. Cassandra, as Lesya Ukrainka wrote, "she sees everything, she knows everything,… but she cannot explain with arguments… And the prophetic spirit is not a gift for her, but a punishment… She is not able to save either her beloved Dolon or her native Troy…"
