Sketch for Macchina tipografica

Giacomo Balla1914/1914

Teatro Alla Scala

Teatro Alla Scala
Milan, Italy

Feu d'artifice remained the only scenography of Balla to be realized, but not the only one he designed. The Museum holds sketches for other projects: Inferno, for example, and Primavera (Mimic synoptic) and Typographical Machine. The big difference consists in the fact that these sets were designed for shows not with real music, but on onomatopoeias and noises invented by Balla himself, in perfect Futurist style.
