Raja Ravi Varma painted portraits of many noblemen. This drawing is of one such unidentified person wearing a turban, sporting a moustache and beard. From his attire he appears of noble standing. Ravi Varma has painted a portrait of Maharaj Fateh Singh and Rai Pannalal Mehta who look remarkably like the subject in this sketch. This drawing could have been a rough sketch in preparation for the final portrait and was found in one of the artist's many sketch books.
