Although we could consider that some previous sculpture, such as Little Faunesa tumbada, 1906, may be, fundamentally in terms of composition, a probable antecedent of this work (whose special beauty undoubtedly lies in the spontaneous freshness of what has not yet been perfected to the maximum), they seem more clear the relationships of all kinds between the sculptural sketch that concerns us and the drawing Nude Lying on a Bed, 1930, which, saving the different position of the right arm and the exact location of the left foot, anticipates all the general characteristics (including volumetric, given the powerful modeling of the drawing) of the sculptural piece that Gargallo only sketched, although this circumstance does not detract one bit from its quality and beauty.
