Sketch of Sigmund Freud by Salvador Dali

Salvador Dali1938

Freud Museum London

Freud Museum London
London, United Kingdom

Salvador Dali visited Freud in London in 1938 and made a study for a number of pen sketches of Freud. At this point in his life Freud had been suffering from cancer of the jaw and mouth for 15 years and was wearing a heavy prosthesis his in mouth. Dali’s written account of the meeting refers to Freud’s stare and apparent indifference to what he was saying, possibly as a result of an attack of deafness Freud was suffering.
