Sketch of the curtain

The contest for The Bolshoi new revolutionary curtain has been announced in 1919. A.N.Benoit, A.Y.Golovin, K.S.Petrov-Vodkin, V.E.Tatlin and many others took part. The People’s Comissar for Enlightenment A.V.Lunacharsky was the head of the judging panel. Fyodor Fedorovsky offered the variation of the curtain – painting inscribed into semicircle of the arch. Two allegoric figures in the center of composition personified musical theatre. The sketch has not been accomplished.
