The funeral car was draped in black crepe and richly ornamented with emblems of mourning. The accompanying coaches carried approximately 150 politically and socially prominent men, several reporters, and a Veteran Reserve Guard of Escort. A pilot engine preceded the train by at least 10 minutes for added security.
