Woven from purple wool; composed of seven vertical panels. Disposed at the waist in tiny folds, falte, sewn through the backside (in two rows) in order that the skirt might fit better. The front panel without folds (along a width of 42 cm), and open on the left-hand side along a length of 30 cm. A thin girdle of another fabric at the top with a brown woollen cord sewn onto it. Fastens with two red woollen cords. Factory-made maroon ribbon sewn along the hem in the form of a “brush” surmounted by a woven black field (nine centimeters wide) with embroidered vegetable ornaments (roses, buds and leaves) made of wool of various colors (light and dark pink, light and dark green, dark blue, cream and purple). One black and one purple stripe on either side of the field. A slanted slit pocket on the right-hand side. An integral part of the traditional women’s dress. Skirts of this kind were worn in Valjevska Kolubara after being introduced from Kragujevac district. They were worn until 1950. Home handwork; woven; embroidered using the cross-stitch technique. Length: 104 cm; hemline circumference: 316 cm.
