The Museum's Apatosaurus was the first to be publicly displayed when it went on view in 1905. But at the time, no Apatosaurus skull had been found. Researchers then believed that Camarasaurus was a close relative, so that animal's skull was used as a model for a sculpted one that sat atop Apatosaurus for decades.
