According to Edward Hart, writing on 6 April 1927, 'Top (no 1): adult male, 1878; bottom (no 2): adult female, 1878; nest and four eggs. Obtained by me at Portfields, Christchurch. Sexes alike; summer and winter plumage differ. Mounted by me'.
