This is a head of the slasher , made from iron by a blacksmith of Chesagan. The serape iron was heated and beaten when red-hot with a hammer to whatever shape and size needed for the tool. It is often narrow at the lower end and it is this part which is fixed or fitted to the wood. The upper part is often narrow and curved and it is this part to which was used to clear shambas. It was used by elders as clearing tool particularly the time when the panga was not imported to the area.
