Given that golf is of Scottish origin, it perhaps comes as no surprise that golfers can be a thrifty lot. Tees are the cheapest items in the golfer's inventory, but they are still loath to break or lose one. In the late 1940s, Slazengers tapped into this market by producing GLO-TEES which were easy to find, more durable and a snip at 1/- (10c) per box in 1948 and 1/2 (13c) per box in 1953.
