Sledmere House, Sledmere, East Riding of Yorkshire

Sledmere came into the Sykes family through marriage in the 17th century. The landscape of the pleasure grounds and park were improved by Sir Christopher Sykes. Designs were prepared by Thomas White in 1776, and by Lancelot 'Capability' Brown in 1778. Elements from both designs were used in the scheme.
