Projeto Portinari

Projeto Portinari
Rio de Janeiro, Brasil

Composition in earthy (predominant), gray, blue, green, rose, ochre, white and black tones. Smooth texture. Slum representation, where we see, on the background, a city landscape with skyscraper, sea and mountains. In the foreground on the left, part of a roof viewed from above, in gray hue with red and blue strokes texturing the tiles. On the right, part of a hut, wherw we see, inside at the window, a black woman leaning forward. Somber figure, with indicated facial features. To the left of the hut, a palm tree. In the background, on the left, part of a hut with diagonal fence, in perspective to the background and to the right; inside, we see a papaya tree and a small banana tree. Leaning on a hut in the entrance, a black man facing 3/4 to right. He has a long face, rough facial features, left arm stretched and leaning against the wall and right arm over the body with his hand in his pants pocket. He wears a straw hat falling over his forehead, striped sleeveless T-shirt, long ochre pants and red clogs. To the left of the center, a woman going down the hill, and on the right a child holding the tip of her green dress. The woman has her hair up, wears a low-cut sleeveless dress glued to the body, enhancing her forms, and is barefoot. The child wears a short pink jumpsuit. To the right of center, two women walking up the hill with cans of water on their head; one dressed in blue and the other in pink. Both have their hair tied in two side buns, wear tight dresses with shading highlighting their shapes and are barefoot. Next to them, on the right, a child also facing back, wearing white dress. The third level depicts in the slum in the steep hill on the right, reddish ground, where shacks are scattered and sparse, three women carrying cans of water on the head and two small children. At the bottom on the left, we see skyscrapers next to the blue sea, where there is a ship. High hills, in green, blue and earthy tones and semitones against the blue sky with gray nuances, where we see a plane flying to the right.
