Small book

A small book kept for temporary miners, such as that for the miner Franz Weber, contained their personal and work history. Temporary miners were often day labourers who could be sacked at will. Only the permanent miners who devoted themselves to the profession as a formally learnt trade were members of the miners' association and were entitled to their benefits.
