Small, pulley shaped, groundstone ring manufactured from a gray vesicular basalt. Generally circular in shape with a roughly centered biconical perforation that has a central ridge. Cross section is asymmetrical. Wide shallow groove around the circumference varies in depth. This torus was recovered from a Civano phase compound room located in a habitation area of the Pueblo Grande site. Pueblo Grande was a large village located at the headgates of a major canal system. Occupied as early as AD 500, the site reached its greatest extent during the Classic Period. Museum Accession: 1996.17
