조선시대 내외명부(內外命婦) 여인들이 쪽머리 가리마에 얹어 치장하던 수식(首飾)이다. 황후는 도금 용첩지, 왕비는 도금 봉첩지를 착용했다. 첩지는 동체만으로 사용할 수 없기 때문에 검정색 천으로 싼 받침대에 부착하여 사용했다.
