An openwork appliqué in the form of a stylized four-legged dragon (?) with head turned to the back and tail raised. On the reverse are four symmetrically placed rivets, by means of which the ornament was attached. The artifact was uncovered during an archaeological excavation in the Arcaded Courtyard of the Wawel Castle in 1969 (ar 308 C) at a depth of 170–180 cm in the Ve level. Andrzej Włodarek identified the artifact as an ornament from a bridle and questioned Józef Niżnik and Janusz Firlet’s earlier suggestion that it is an appliqué from a book or relic chest.
