Allan Houser's contemporary sculpture Smoke Signal” was created in 1993. Houser, a Chiricahua Apache sculptor, died in 1994. He was remembered with an installation of 19 works of art in Salt Lake City during the 2002 Olympics, and a retrospective of 69 works at the National Museum of the American Indian in Washington, DC. in 2004.
