A snaphaunce rifle with eight-sided barrel. The stock is of a type typical for Göinge, a municipality in Scania. Scania, the southernmost part of Sweden today, was Danish until 1658 and Göinge was the border region between Denmark and Sweden. During the several wars before and after 1658 Göinge guerrilla fighters, known as Snapphanar, harassed Swedish troops and made their rifle famous.
