"This is one of Hiroshige’s earliest
landscape prints. He made his name with
views of Edo (Tokyo), also known as the
Eastern Capital. Susaki, to the south of
Edo, was a favourite spot for watching the
sun rise.
Hiroshige has included a brown border,
probably to resemble the frame on a
western print."
