Nairobi, Kenya

This is a social status object which shows that one has a son. It is made by the old women when the first born son is given a name. This may be six months or more after the birth, as the ceremony must wait until the bull to be slaughtered is big enough. A sakha must have an even number of tails. A sakha is the sign of having a son. If woman has not give birth to a boy, she will not have any sakha.
