Soldier of Marathon

Signed and dated in Rome in 1885.After initial training at the School of Fine Arts in Seville, José Arpa passes to Rome grant from the council, made especially history paintings, among which it is located, where thanks to his mastery for drawing and color gets a great anatomical study. Restless artist, one of the first painting landscapes outdoors, traveling by Morocco and settled for many years in Mexico and Texas, developing a very personal work, influenced by chromaticism and strong nature of those places.
