Solutre point of Aitzbitarte IV (Errenteria, Gipuzkoa)

Laurel-leaf-shaped point from Aitzbitarte IV cave (Errenteria, Gipuzkoa). Flint's points of this kind are highly crafted pieces, slimmed down using flat reworking. The outline is very carefully worked. They were very difficult to make and show the degree of technical sophistication achieved during the Solutrean period of the Upper Palaeolithic (22 000 – 18 000 BP). They were used for hunting.
