This tailcoat of fine beige woollen cloth is unusual because the tailcoat belonged to elegant men’s evening attire during the second half of the 19th century and was normally black. The frock coat and the more fashionable jacket had asserted themselves during the day. This tailcoat is buttoned, double-breasted and cut straight in front. Its front sections are turned over into elongated lapels lined in cream coloured satin. The tails set into the waist are knee-length and likewise straight.
