Sori no aru Katachi (Bowed Form)

Sumikawa Kiichi is from Muikaichi-chô in Shimane Prefecture. The Sori no Aru Katachi (Bowed Form) series is Sumikawa's life work, which he has continued to pursue to the present. In this series, he expresses the concept of the original Japanese sori (curve), including the sori of the Japanese sword and the sori of the roofs of Japanese houses. He produced this piece for a large-scale one-man exhibition held in New York in 1993. It is a major work forming the core of this series.
