Souhayla El Karkouri (Age 13)

"Over the course of this lengthened summer, I began to realize that I should use the excessive amounts of spare time, beneficially. I thought that the best way to do so was to prepare myself for Algebra, the extra math course I’m taking because I knew it would get challenging as the year went on. I concluded that it would be another way to enhance my skill and knowledge, other than reading. Resultantly, I took about two hours of my day to teach myself different units I would be learning once I actually began Algebra. Being the type of person who likes to complete and learn things beforehand, I think it was an advantageous choice. Now, looking back, I am happy with this decision as I am currently doing the Algebra class with a better understanding of the work, instead of being unprepared. I am essentially learning the math topics again, but this time it’s with the guidance of a teacher. Altogether, I found that practicing Algebra and math during the summer, to expand my education and understanding was an exceptional choice. I was able to make the most of my summer at home during Covid-19!"
