This soup dish belongs to a large service that was probably commissioned by Joseph II from the Vienna Porcelain Manufactory. In the centre of the dish with its Classicistic gilt rim is a medallion portrait of Prince Wenzel Anton von Kaunitz. All the plates and dishes from this service display medallion portraits of important personalities from the time of the joint regency of Maria Theresa and Joseph II.
